Audio-grade components
The signal path in all Bolt & Forge devices is exclusively populated with audio-grade components for true sound and low noise. This includes metal-film resistors, film capacitors and studio-grade semiconductors manufactured specifically for small-signal audio.
Solid dielectric capacitors
Electrolytic capacitors are liquid filled and can degrade or leak over time. This is why tube amps regularly require “cap jobs” to replace them. All capacitors in Bolt & Forge devices use a solid dialectic, meaning they last indefinitely because there is no liquid to ever dry out or leak.
Mechanical relay bypass
The mechanical relay used in Bolt & Forge pedals is rated for a minimum of 2 million cycles. The foot switch is made for industrial machinery and rated for a minimum 1 million cycles. Additionally, a memory function is built in to the bypass system so when powered off, Bolt & Forge pedals remember what state they’re in and return to that state when powered back up.
Hand wired
The jacks and foot switch are mounted directly to the enclosure and hand wired to the circuit board. These areas are subject to mechanical force, and mounting them securely to the metal enclosure rather than the circuit board removes any possibility those forces can have an impact on the solder joints.
Low noise
Whether you’re on stage or in the studio, noise is always at least a nuisance, if not a showstopper.
All Bolt & Forge devices are designed for minimum noise at the circuit level and the component level.
In addition, a choke-based noise filter is built in to the power input of every pedal.
